Aerial Photography

As a service to local governments and organizations, MARC's Research Services staff offers aerial photography for purchase. Call 816/474-4240 for more details or to order.

2006 aerial photographs:

• 36" x 44" (e-size) plotted photographs and the area of interest and map scale are defined by the purchaser. $30 each.
• These photos are orthorectified and in color. 6” resolution in all areas except rural regions of Cass, Leavenworth, and Ray counties where the resolution is 1 foot. Because counties where captured separately, rather than in a single flight, tonal differences exist between counties.
• Not available in digital form. Persons interested in purchasing digitals should contact the host county.

2004 aerial photographs:

• 30"x 30" plotted photographs of four-square-mile areas; scale 1" = 400', $30 each.
• Plotted 30" x 30" photos, other scales, $30 for each e-size sheet required.  Scales larger than 1"=200' are not recommended.
• These photos are orthorectified, in color, and can be centered on a user-defined location. Not available in digital form.

2001 aerial photographs:

• 30" x 30" plotted photographs of four-square-mile areas; scale 1" = 400', $30 each.
• Plotted 30" x 30" photos of other scales smaller than 1”=400’ can are available, as long as it can be fitted on a 36" x 44" e-size sheet., $30 for each e-size sheet required. 
• These photos are orthorectified, in color, and can be centered on a user-defined location. Not available in digital form. Not available in digital form.

2000 aerial photographs:

• 30" x 30" plotted photographs of four-square-mile sections at 1" = 400' scale. $30 for each plotted 1"=400' photo selected from our index.
• Other scales (e.g., 1’=100” or 1’=200”) are $50 each.
• Digital files, covering the same four square-mile areas, can be licensed for use with your image processing or desktop mapping software. Both TIF and compressed MrSID formats are available.
• Digital files are $75 each. Call to order or use order form.

Aerials from prior years:

• Taken in 1995, 1990, 1985, 1980, 1970 and 1967.
• Images are 30" x 32", 1"=400' scale, $20 each.

Viewing Privileges

At the request of customers, the MARC Research Services Department has instituted a viewing only process for aerial photography.

Because we have neither the space nor the staff to accommodate many people at once, we will honor requests for viewing aerial photographs only when made at least one business day in advance, although there is no guarantee that viewing can be provided within that time period.

Viewing of images on computer screens will be available when no printed copies exist, but no printed copies will be made unless payment is received for one of the products described above. The viewing charge is $35 per hour, with a minimum charge of $15 for any fraction of an hour. Please contact Phil Castro at 816/474-4240 or pcastro@marc.org for availability.
